In this class we talked about chapters 3 to 10. We were asked in this class to say some of the themes that we blieved could be related how the novel will be about just reading the first 3 chapters. To this question I say that there several as following:
- conflict (encounters with a new culture)
- different education backgrounds
- racisme
- colonialism and post-colonialism
- after war
- culture shock (personal shock)
- expectations, dreams, desires
- feeling small in a different country and culture
